PSS Control Advanced Elements

No control loop optimization program is complete without advanced analysis and remediation. Incorrect controller tuning, excessive hysteresis and stiction in control valves, nonlinear valve characteristics, and inadequate control loop robustness lead to increased process variability and decreased operating efficiency. PSS Control Advanced Elements finds, analyzes, and facilitates remediation of these problems for both PID and Multivariable Predictive Controllers.

The PSS Control Advanced Elements are:

PSS MPC Analysis monitors and reports on the performance of Multi-variable Predictive Controllers (MPCs) and helps you sustain their benefits. It is compatible with all types of multivariable control applications, including DMCPlus™ and RMPCT™. Multiple aspects of their performance including the benefits index, constraint pushing, model accuracy, actual and effective service, are continually monitored and analyzed.
PSS Process Analysis finds, analyzes, and facilitates understanding of complex interactions between multiple variables in a plant or process. It does this by sampling them simultaneously and analyzing them for strength, periods of oscillation, and indices of cross-correlation. Results are presented intuitively in both matrix and analyzer plot displays, which clearly identify the strengths of the interactions between variables.
PSS Loop Optimizer identifies the origins of poor control loop performance and facilitates their remediation. It analyzes loops for critical control performance factors such as tuning, process non-linearity, and control valve performance and recommends corrective actions to optimize their performance. It provides a choice of tuning objectives, including setpoint response, disturbance rejection, lambda, and surge tank control, and allows users to simulate the loop’s response to parameter changes prior to applying them.
