Control Loop Optimization

Industry data has shown that in the average plant, only one-third of the control loops are functioning properly at any given time. The remaining two-thirds contribute significantly to excessive alarms, process upsets, reduced product quality, and increased operator loading.

Furthermore, many plants have implemented Multi-variable Predictive Controllers as part of their Advanced Process Control strategy. Studies have proven that 40% to 70% of APC benefits cannot be achieved without first optimizing the underlying regulatory controls. To sustain APC benefits over the long term, periodic analysis of the controllers and the MPC are also required.
